- Armor Class - Your Armor Class (AC) represents how hard it is for opponents to land a solid, damaging blow on you. This is the number that an opponent must match or beat with an "attack roll", to cause you damage. Your Armor Class is affected by any Armor you may have equipped, any Shield you may have equipped, your Dexterity ability score, and any size adjustment you may have due to your Race.
- Attack Bonus - Your attack bonus is a number that you can add to your attack roll when in combat. When using a Melee weapon the attack bonus is calculated by taking a base number and adding your Strength modifier and any Size modifier due to your race. When using a Ranged or Thrown weapon, the bonus is calculated on a base number plus your Dexterity modifier, plus any Size modifier.
- Attack Damage - When your attack succeeds, you deal damage. The type of weapon used determines the amount of damage you deal. Attack damage reduces a target’s current hit points. The amount of attack damage dealt, is determined by rolling the type of die indicated. (eg. 1d4, 1d8, 2d12)
- Attack Roll - An attack roll represents your attempt to strike your opponent on your turn in a round. When you make an attack roll, you roll a d20 and add your attack bonus. (Other modifiers may also apply to this roll.) If your result equals or beats the target’s Armor Class, you hit and deal damage. Automatic Misses and Hits: A natural 1 (the d20 comes up 1) on an attack roll is always a miss. A natural 20 (the d20 comes up 20) is always a hit.
- Melee combat/weapon - The term "Melee" as used in our RPG is described as "hand-to-hand" combat where the attacker makes physical contact with the target, usually with a hand held weapon.
- Ranged combat/weapon - The term "Ranged" as used in our RPG is described as combat where the attacker does not make physical contact with the target. Instead the attacker uses a weapon such as a bow to shoot a projectile at the target, and it is the projectile that makes physical contact with the target.
- Spell Resistance - Over time all creatures in our realm develop a natural resistance to magic. Some creatures are able to resist spells to a higher degree than the creatures around them. This is due mostly to their abilities in mind and body. When a player has been targeted by a spell, they can add any spell resistance that they have to the d20 roll in order to resist the spell.
- Thrown combat/weapon - The term "Thrown" as used in our RPG is similar to the description found for Ranged, the difference being that with a "thrown" weapon, it is the weapon itself that makes physical contact with the target, rather than a projectile fired from the weapon.
